Lingerie Boots

Portlandia on Italian streets? Women in Italy, in every season, are wearing not only striped hair and plaid pants, but also boots. It’s just so PDX.* Boots can be tough or tender. We like heeled booties in a creamy shade of almond. Because they’d look so great with our Jane’s Vanity vacation wardrobe on our summer trip to Italy!

Short, light-colored boots are summer superstars of packing and protection. They go with everything and help us negotiate airports and cobblestones in style. To wit:

We travel in Zoelle’s lustrous Greenfinch Midi Dress. Its simple boat neckline wraps around to a deep V in the back. Clever pleating at waist gives way to a graceful long skirt that shows off not just a clever double print, but also…our boots.

Christine Vancouver gives us a quick-change for dinner with her Meghan Luxe Silk Crepe Gown (in white or black). This elegantly simple dress is a wardrobe in one. At night, we accessorize with the Thalia Corded Lace Capelet from Karolina Laskowska. Perfect for moonlight meandering in sensibly sexy boots. For sightseeing by day, we’d wear the same, with a straw hat and crossbody bag from Elisabeth Weinstock.

In the afternoon, we stroll from our room to the pool, through a tropical garden. Our boots guard our fresh pedicure. Good thing we also brought along our Golden Hollywood Silk Pajamas from Gilda & Pearl. This vintage-inspired set is crafted from luxurious leopard print silk. It offers daytime sun protection, and its jacket mixes with the Meghan Gown as an extra wrap for evening.

Early morning promises breath-taking blue skies and hypnotic ocean breezes. We tip-toe out to the balcony wearing our Noor Aubergine Babydoll from Layalina: so gloriously purple, so thoughtfully peek-a-boo. If it’s slightly cool, we might slip on the Golden Hollywood leopard print jacket and, underneath, the pajama trousers. A cute combo with pearly little boots. As we sip our cappuccino, we wonder if it’s raining in Portland.
